Robert J. Lavey, age 79, of West Bridgewater, died January 8, 2017 at Charlwell House in Norwood. Bob was the husband for 51 years of Marion T. (Bickford) Lavey. Born in Honolulu, HI, he was the son of the late John and Audrey (McKeon) Lavey. He was raised and educated in Hull, and was a graduate of Cambridge Rindge Latin High School. He was also a graduate of Massasoit Community College. Bob was a Marine Corps Veteran, and served during Vietnam. For over 33 years, he worked for the telephone company as a Splice Service Technician and retired in 1998 from Verizon. He was a member of Local IBEW 2222 and 2322 Boston, and the Enterprise Club. Bob had been a Little League baseball coach, enjoyed activities with his grandchildren, and watching Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins sports.
Bob is also survived by his children Joanne Lavey and her fiancé Dave Dikmak of Brockton and Rob Lavey and his wife Maria (Fraccastoro) of Brockton; three grandchildren, Michael, Jake and Leah Lavey; a stepbrother Larry Goodwin and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Michael and Kevin Lavey and brother of the late Jack and Joanne Lavey.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Thursday 4-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Friday at 8am for a funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9am. Burial in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
