John M. “Ricey” Rice, 72, of Franklin died January 8, in the Tufts Medical Center in Boston. He was the husband of Judy A.(Calnan) Rice for the past 50 years.
Born in Milford, August 30, 1944, the son of the late Peter E. Rice and Irene F. (DeLorey) Rice -Rebecchi and step-son of the late Charles G. Rebecchi, Mr. Rice was raised in Medway and had lived in Franklin for the past 32 years.
Mr. Rice had been the owner of J&M Towing and Recovery Company for many years. He had previously worked in the maintenance department of the Wrentham Developmental Center.
“Ricey” loved cars. He was a member of the Red Devils Car Club and enjoyed going to car shows and working on his own classic cars and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Keri-Lynne Harper of Millville, Kelley Rice of Rhode Island and Matthew Rice of Franklin.
He is also survived by his siblings, Patricia Davis and her husband Murray of Franklin, Charlie Rebecchi of Port Charlotte, Florida and Diane Rebecchi of San Jose, CA. He was the brother of the late Kathleen Rice Donovan and Stephen Rice.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Christopher, Kimberly, Nicolas, Lacey and Patrick Munger and Lindsay and Mallory Harper and his great-grandson Owen.
His funeral will be held on Friday, January 13 from the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber Street, Medway at 9:15 followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church at 10:00.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Medway.
Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
