Laurice Glenn Harper, 94, of Conley, Georgia, and formerly of Ocilla, Georgia, died Friday, January 6, 2017, at the Atlanta Medical Center main campus in Atlanta, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Ocilla, Georgia, with the Rev. William Pope officiating. Interment will follow in Satilla Baptist Church Cemetery in Irwin County. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Harper was born December 28, 1922 in Irwin County to the late Harvey and Grace Chafin Harper. He retired from the Civil Service after 32 years of service with the Atlanta Army Depot as an Electrical Engineer, having graduated from Georgia Tech in 1949. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during WWII and was discharged from Ft. McPherson. He was also a 1941 Graduate of Ocilla High School. He was a member of The First Baptist Church of Forest Park, Georgia.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Betty Sotack Harper of Conley, Georgia; children, daughter, Glenda H. Mattern and husband Corey of Lawrenceville, Lamont Harper and wife Patricia of Hartwell and Brent Harper of Stockbridge; three granddaughters, Kelley Harper of Anchorage, AK, Heather McMichael of Augusta and Rebecca King of Dallas; four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents; his stepmother, Louise Harper; one brother and one sister preceded him in death.
