Doris I. (Provencher) Allaire, 77 a former resident of Salem passed away peacefully at The Wellshire at Balfour in Louisville, Colorado on Friday, January 6, 2017 following a long illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Royal P. Allaire.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Ernest J. and Irene M. (Deschene) Provencher. Doris worked in the accounting department for New England Telephone Co., in Salem and later in Boston. She retired in 1989 with thirty years with the company. She and her family moved to Tampa, Florida in 1991. In 2013, due to failing health, Doris moved to Colorado to be near her daughter. She was devoted to her family and was a gracious and gentlewoman who enjoyed literature, dinning out and concert going.
She is survived by her daughter, Laura A. Schneider and her husband Leon of Erie, CO and their two children Hailey, 3 and Bryce 1. She also leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 9:00 AM to be followed by her funeral mass in St. James Chapel, 156 Federal St., Salem 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local chapter of the Disabled American Veterans.
