WHITE, Gertrude (Havey) of West Harwich, formerly of Jamaica Plain and West Roxbury, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2017.
Beloved wife of the late Joseph H. White. Devoted mother of Joseph W. White and his wife MaryEllen of Needham, Kathleen and her husband Mark Kelleher of Chatham, Susan Derosier of Harwich, Carolyn and her husband Greg Rounseville of Dennis, and the late Annie H. White.
Loving sister of the late Dr. William B. Havey, Jr., MD, Rev. Msgr. Joseph E. Havey, and Ann B. Havey. Devoted daughter of the late William B. and Gertrude (Gorman) Havey Sr.
Also survived by six loving grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Trudy's greatest joy was her family, and she was happiest when surrounded by her loving children, grandchildren and many friends. She was a devout Catholic with a generous and loving heart, devoting herself to family and volunteer work throughout her life. Trudy had a natural sense of style and elegance. She loved interior design, decorating, gardening, her books, and hosting exquisite dinners and parties for her large family and many friends. Graduate of The Kathleen Dell School. Former member Board of Trustees St. John's Seminary, former President of the League of Catholic Women, former member Board of Trustees St. Sebastian’s School and President Guild of St. Irene, former President Fontbonne Academy Mother's Guild, past President of the Mother Seton Guild, past Secretary of the Jamaica Hills Association.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Holy Name Church, West Roxbury, on Thursday, January 12th at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours Wednesday January 11, 4-8 PM in the Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home 1803 Centre St, West Roxbury. Interment Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Trudy’s memory to The Society of St Vincent de Paul or The American Cancer Society.
