
Donna Dae (Payton) Ross, 69, passed away at her home on Wednesday, January 4, 2017.
She was a Dean’s list graduate from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Psychology, specializing in substance abuse therapy. During her lifetime, she excelled in many roles from accomplished nurse, brilliant saleswoman and highly respected employee of Churchill Hill Downs. Beautiful, talented and strong, she was a warrior for peace, tolerance, love and understanding; a mighty woman both gentle and strong with a fearless spirit. She was a writer and prolific reader who will be best remembered for her compassion, her sense of humor and her love of art and all things beautiful.
Donna was preceded in death by her sister, Martha Thomas; and brother, John Payton.
She is survived by her children, Angela McMeans, Bobbie Woosley (Taunya) and Keitha Dae Skaggs (Donald); her kindred spirit Roger Waggoner; brothers, David, Denie and Roy Payton; grandchildren, Robert Payton, Houston McMeans and Marcus Woosley; great grandchild, Wyatt Payton; and numerous other grandchildren; and great grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 4 P.M. at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway.
Visitation will be at Noon until time of service.
