Obituary

WORCESTER-George W. Mondor, 80, of 90 Swan Avenue, died Monday, August 22nd in Saint Vincent Hospital after a long struggle with lymphoma. He leaves his wife of 58 years, Dorothy L. (Higgins) Mondor, 3 daughters; Patricia L., wife of Gregory C. Young of Denver, NC, Nancy J., wife of Kevin P. Dahn of Oakham and Gail L., wife of Paul V. Clotar of Worcester, a brother; Edward O. Mondor of Tulsa, OK, 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, many nephews and nieces. A son Edward G. Mondor, 3 brothers and 5 sisters, predeceased him.

He was born in Auburn the son of Zepherin F. and Martha M. (Beavais) Mondor. Mr. Mondor was an owner and operator, with his son Edward, of Go For Excavators for 15 years, until retiring in 1988. In his retirement he worked for Price Chopper Supermarket for 7 years. Previously he was employed as a heavy machine operator and mechanic for Marois Brothers for many years. Mr. Mondor was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church. He loved hunting, fishing, boating, golfing, flying and collecting junk. He enjoyed playing the lottery and his trips to Foxwoods Casino.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 25th at 10:00 AM in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA, 01701. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue is directing arrangements.
