Betty F. Roberts, 82, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Friday, January 6, 2017, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Ocilla United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jay Roberson officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Irwin County. The family will receive friends 6-8 Monday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Roberts was born October 21, 1934, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Dewey Rayburn & Bertha Roberts Green. She attended school in Irwin County. She spent most of her life in Miami, Florida working as a floral designer at Hirni’s Wayside Garden as well as in purchasing at Racal-Milgo for over 20 years. She returned home to Irwin County in 1999. Mrs. Roberts was a member of the Ocilla Garden Club and loved working in her yard. She will be remembered by friends and family for keeping a clean house, something she took great pride in. She was a member of Ocilla United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Merice Roberts of Ocilla; two sons and daughters-in-law: Elder Ray Roberts & Alicia of Ocilla and Jeffrey Alan Roberts & Robin of Maitland, Florida; ten grandchildren: Anna Maddox, Sherry & Andy Carroll, Dena Hobbs, Lance Veal, Derrick Veal, Amanda Roberts Hall, Ryan & Lindsey Roberts, Christopher & Katherine Roberts. Ashley Roberts, and Zachary Roberts; five great-grandchildren; and four sisters: Winnie & Robert Windsor of North Carolina, Drewey Davidge of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Jackie & Carl Windsor and Gail Cass, both of Miami, Florida.
