Maria Ortiz “Cookie” Tevenal, age 52, was called to heaven on December 30, 2016. She was born in Lares, Puerto Rico on March 20, 1964 to Pedro Ortiz and Maria Lopez. She worked for many years as a patient outreach specialists. She leaves one daughter, Jacqueline Natar of East Longmeadow; one son, Mitchell Torres of Springfield; her mother, Maria Catalina Lopez of Chicopee; one brother, Leonel Ortiz of Springfield; three sisters, Magaly Ortiz of Chicopee, Evelyn Ortiz of Chicopee and Rosa Brown and her husband John of Southwick; three grandchildren, Madisyn Nieves, Madden Natar and Jonthan Maximus Santiago. Maria was predeceased by her father Pedro Ortiz; one son, Jonathan Gregory Santiago; one brother, Michael Alvarez and two sisters, Lucy Ortiz and Carmen Ortiz. Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday January 10, 2017 from 4 to 7 PM with a prayer service to take place at 5:30 PM at the Grise Funeral Home 280 Springfield St. Chicopee. Burial is private.
