SWANSEA – Ruth A. Windle, age 97 of Swansea, passed away on Jan. 6, 2017 at Catholic Memorial Home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Carlton E. Windle and the daughter of the late Robert Sylvester Chapman and Ida Mae (Wanza) Chapman. Prior to retiring, Ruth worked in the Garment Industry as a Folder, was a Deaconess at the South Swansea Baptist Church, formerly South Swansea Union Church, a member of the choir, and a past Sunday School Teacher for over 60 years.
Survivors include her son, Carlton E. Windle II (wife Elaine) and her daughter, Barbara Mae Windle both of Swansea; her sister: Joan Ayers (husband Gerald) of Georgetown, TX. She was the sister of the late George W. Chapman, Alan Chapman, Doris Pickens, and Elsie Kehoe; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Catholic Memorial Home for the excellent care of Ruth over the past 7 years.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the So. Swansea Baptist Church, 25 Church St. Swansea, MA. Burial will be private.
