Obituary

WORCESTER-James J. Hanlon, 91 of Marble Street died Tuesday, January 3 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

His wife of 60 years, Mary A. (Hynes) Hanlon died in 2010. He leaves his daughter, Deborah A. Bennett of Pacific Grove, CA; two sons, Joseph T. Hanlon of Pittsburg, PA and John F. Hanlon of Worcester. He was born in Worcester, son of James J. and Dora M. (Larkin) Hanlon and graduated from Commerce High School. James was an Army Veteran of WWII, serving in the European Theatre. He saw action in battles in the Rhinelands and Ardennes and received a purple heart and bronze star in what would later be none as the Battle of the Bulge.
James was a civil service worker at the Fort Deven’s Army Base for many years. He was a former member of St. Stephen’s Church and the Main South American Legion Post.

A Private Burial will held in Saint John’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Franciscan Mission Associates P.O. Box 598-Dept. M, Mount Vernon, NY 10551-0598. Arrangements in the care of CALLAHAN~FAY~CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street.
