Hollie Mae McDearmid, 98, of Marietta, Georgia and formerly of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died, January 5, 2017, at Wellstar Community Hospice in Marietta, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2PM, Monday, January 9, 2017, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Dewain Joiner officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends, Sunday evening, January 8, 2017, from 6-8 PM, at The Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. McDearmid was born in Ben Hill County, February 16, 1918, to the late Emmett Emerson and Clara Pearl Greer Luke. She worked at Fitzgerald Mills as a weaver and also at Modern Fibers. She was a long time member of Fitzgerald Church of God and was active in the Young at Heart.
Survivors include: two granddaughters: Robin Lynn Whitlow of Rock Spring, Georgia and Pamela Jean Steele of Chattanooga, TN; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Jean L. Batts of Marietta, Georgia, several nieces and nephews also survive. Her parents; husband, Marshall Mose McDearmid; a daughter, Barbara Jean M. Martin; three brothers: Jessie W. Luke, Robert W. Luke and Emmett L. Luke and one sister, Dorothy L. Sommers, preceded her in death.
