FANNIN, John F. of Winthrop, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side, on January 4, 2017. He was 60 years old. He was the beloved husband of Laurier R. (Burns) Fannin. Loving father of John F. Jr, Trevor J. and Robert A. Fannin. Born in Clones, Ireland, he was the son of the late John and Dorothy (Faulkner) Fannin. Dear brother of Douglas Fannin and his wife Gretta, Dorothy Anderson and the late Patricia Coote, and survived by many nieces and nephews all from Ireland. Funeral from the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St. WINTHROP, on Fri, Jan 13, at 9am. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. John the Evangelist Church-Winthrop at 10am. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will follow in Winthrop Cemetery (Belle Isle Section). Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Thurs. from 4-8pm. Flowers are welcome or donations can be made to the Kirby Funeral Home to help offset his funeral arrangements. A race car enthusiast, John won the British Grand Prix. He was also a member of the Irish Boxing Club where he was the Lightweight Golden Glove Champion. In Ireland, John worked for Bally Manufacturing and then to Syscon Engineering where he was a mechanical engineer. After coming to America, John spent many years employed at Crystal Cove Marina in Winthrop, and then went on to work for the N.O.A.H. in East Boston as property manager.
