SPRINGFIELD – Lionel R. Roy, 81, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Saint Raphael de Bellechasse, Province of Quebec, Canada on May 3, 1935, a beloved son of the late Alphee and Adrienne (Bernard) Roy. He was raised in Saint Raphael de Bellechasse and moved to the North End section of Springfield in 1954. He was a well-known mason in the area for many years and was sought out for his expertise by many people. He was the co-owner of L.P. Mason Contractors in Springfield for many years. He was a communicant of the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church and Our Lady of Hope Church, both in Springfield. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend, Huguette M. (Bouffard) Roy who was Called Home on August 30, 1992. They were married on June 19, 1954 at Eglise de Saint Raphael in Canada and were blessed with over 38 years of happiness together. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by his cherished grandson, Aaron Randy Bordeau who was Called Home on January 5, 2000. He leaves his six loving children, Francine D. Roy, Real G. Roy and his wife, Diane, Louise M. Roy and her partner, Barry, and Rene G. Roy and his partner, Lynn, all of Springfield, Diane J. Bordeau and her husband, Randy, of Feeding Hills and Linda S. LaValley and her husband, Scott, of Chicopee; his cherished grandchildren, Melissa Bonneau, Tina Cabey and her husband, Michael, Crystal Roy, Bryan Roy and his wife, Vicky, Jason Bonatakis, Danielle Bordeau and Kristin LaValley; his cherished great-grandchildren, Ryan and Kyle Cabey and Autumn Dunton; his dear brothers and dear sisters, Herve, Norman, Emma, Ghislaine, Lucienne, Lorraine, Diane and Jeannette; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Roy and Bouffard families. His funeral services and burial will be private for his family.
