NATICK: Robert J. Kirk, age 86, of Natick, a former longtime Framingham resident, died peacefully on Tuesday evening, January 3, 2017. He was the devoted husband of Joan L. (Munson) Kirk for 58 years.
Born, raised, and educated in Natick, he was a son of the late William and Margaret (Mercer) Kirk. Bob served as a corporal with the Army of Occupation in Germany until 1953. He had been employed for 38 years with the Town of Framingham when he retired from the position of Shop Foreman.
A life member of VFW Post 1274 of Natick, Bob was also an enthusiastic sports fan, particularly of the Boston Bruins. He will be most remembered for his kindness, generosity, witty sense of humor, and a great love for his family.
Bob is survived by Joan; their children, Barbara Kirk and her companion Dan Ferris of Franklin, Mary Kirk and her fiancé Ron Martin of Cherry Valley, William Kirk of Seabrook, TX, and Joan M. Kirk of Newport, RI, and Maui, HI; their grandchildren of whom he was the proud and cherished Papa: Leeann Riley of Shelburne, VT, Ryan Saporetti of Medford, Rebecca Riley Clinton, and Jason Saporetti of Franklin; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late William Kirk, a former Millis resident.
A graveside funeral service will be held at Dell Park Cemetery, 163 Pond Street, Natick, on Monday, Jan. 9th at 12:00PM. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, 2-5PM in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common.
