Lawrence – Sabastino “Sam” DeSantis, 93 of Lawrence, passed away on Wednesday, January 04, 2017 at home.
Born in Lawrence on April 19, 1923, Sam was the son of Donato and Rose (Miele) DeSantis. He worked in various shoe factories in Lawrence and then for Brox Construction for over 30 years. He then worked as a foreman for the town of Methuen for 35 years until his retirement in 2002. In his free time, he enjoyed taking walks, playing pool, and ballroom dancing. When he was younger, he enjoyed playing 45’s.
Sam will be deeply missed by his 3 children, Dianne Pica and her husband, Ron, of Newton, NH, Russell DeSantis and his husband, Miguel Reyes, of West Palm Beach, FL, and Sam A. DeSantis and his wife, Rachel of Lawrence; 2 grandchildren, Scott Anderson of Lawrence and Rachelle DeSantis of Haverhill; 2 great grandchildren, Sarie and Brylee Padilla; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son, Dennis DeSantis and his former wife, Amelia (Adamo) DeSantis.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Sam’s life by gathering for calling hours at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen on Sunday, January 8, 2017 from 12 - 3 PM. His funeral service will take place on Monday at 9 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
