Richard “Rick” Lavoie, 48 of Methuen, MA died Sunday January 1, 2017 at the Holy Family Hospital, Methuen, MA. Rick was born in Methuen on September 19, 1968, a son of Irene (Michaud) Lavoie and the late Chester Lavoie. He was raised in Lawrence and Methuen but graduated high school in New Brunswick, Canada. Rick moved back to Methuen in 2011 after living for a time in Manchester, NH.
Rick was a longtime employee of the Department of Treasury where he was considered to be an ethical, empathetic and stellar employee. He loved hockey (especially Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks), baseball and football and held season tickets to the Manchester Monarchs. Rick was known to have a heart of gold, quick wit and an eidetic memory.
He is survived by his wife Susan (Beaulieu) Lavoie of Methuen, MA, his mother of Grand Falls, NB, Canada, three brothers, Patrick M. Lavoie of Winslow, ME, Nelson Lavoie, Sr. of Methuen, MA, and Renald Lavoie of Dracut, MA, one sister, Judy Lavoie Beaulieu of Salem, NH, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, calling hours will be held on Monday January 9th from 1:30-3:00 pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
