James R. Greer, 85, of Village Drive, Smithfield, died January 1, 2017 after a long illness. He leaves behind his wife of fifty-seven years, Eleanor (Manning) Greer.
Born in Providence, he was a son of John and Louise Greer. He worked an auto reconditioner. In his free time, James loved to fish and watch television, as well as socialize and use the computer.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three children, Patricia Manning of Cranston, Eleanor Leonard of Cumberland, and Richard Leonard and his wife, Mary of West Kingston, as well as ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son, Edward Leonard.
Funeral services will be private. Interment with Military Honors was at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
