LINDSEY - Henry Thomas "H.T." Lindsey, also affectionately known as "Cornbread" to some of his friends, passed away January 1, 2017 at his Yulee residence.
He was born May 6, 1938 in Dublin, GA and moved to Yulee 45 years ago from Jacksonville, FL.
Memberships include Yulee Baptist Church, F. O. P., former Lions Club member and I. A. M. Local 731.
He retired from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and later retired as a millwright. Mr. Lindsey was also a veteran of the U. S. Navy. After his active duty period of enlistment ended he was called back to active duty from the Navy Reserve to serve during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962.
H. T. had a talent for wood working and gardening but fishing was his life-long passion. He was also an avid football fan and enjoyed watching his grandson, Robert, play U. S. Naval Academy football.
He was predeceased by his parents, G. W. and Lucille Lindsey; a brother and sister in law, Curtis and Mildred Lindsey; and a sister and brother in law, Joyce and S. V. McClendon.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Lindsey of Yulee, FL; two sons and daughters in law, Steve and Beth Lindsey of Palm Bay, FL and Chris and Barbara Lindsey of Lynchburg, VA; a sister, Elizabeth Mager of Naples, FL; and four grandchildren, Andrea Woodard, Jessica Lindsey, Josh Lindsey and Robert Lindsey.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon, Friday, January 6, at Yulee Baptist Church with Reverends Doug Sides and Tom Keisler officiating . Interment with military honors will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Yulee Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Yulee Baptist Church Building Fund.
