Arthur Henry Savard “Art” was born August 3, 1935 and passed away on December 31st after an eight year battle with cancer. This past June he celebrated 50 years married to his wife Frances “Fran” Savard. His only son, Scott (married to Stephanie) enjoyed many Red Sox games, a memorable trip to Washington, DC and countless meaningful conversations with his father. His favorite role in life was being Pepere to his much loved grandchildren, Mackenzie and Mason. He remains loved by his extended family, his sister Jacqueline and George Page, sister Constance Pare and brother-in-law Roger Pare (pre-deceased), as well as his nephews and niece. He was raised in Lowell, MA by his predeceased parents Albert and Evelyn Savard. He was a proud U.S. Airforce Veteran having served in the Korean War. He spent his career in the travel industry meeting his soon-to-be wife at TWA Airlines, VP of Topaz Travel and in partnership with his wife as a business owner of Scott World Travel in Derry, NH. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a true New England sports fan, and loved his many trips to the beaches of Maine. His many friends and loved ones will always remember him for his passion for his dog and cats, his love of Dunkin Donuts, his obsession with chocolate and his true gentle spirit.
Visiting hours were held on Thursday, January 5th from 4 – 7pm at Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, January 6th at 11:00am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry. The burial was held in the Forest Hill Cemetery in E. Derry. A reception will follow at the VFW Post, 18 Railroad Ave., Derry.
