Winifred Jean Magee Williams, 85, of Sherborn, died suddenly Thursday, December 29, 2016, with her husband at her side.
Mrs. Williams was born in Springfield, MA, the daughter of the late Samuel and Margaret (Morison) Magee. She was the beloved wife of Charles R. Williams for over 62 years and a loving mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend.
Mrs. Williams maintained a lifelong devotion to the education and care of children. She received her degree in education from Wheelock College in 1953 and taught in public schools in West Springfield, MA, St. Louis, MO, and Dover, MA. Soon after moving to Sherborn, she opened Cherubs Castle Day Care Centers in Weston and Wayland which she ran for 24 years.
A dedicated member of Pilgrim Church in Sherborn, she served in many offices and supported outreach programs as well as participating in vocal and hand bell choirs. She was also an avid birder and a member of the Boggestow Garden Club of Sherborn.
Mrs. Williams enjoyed sharing her knitting and sewing, traveling on cross-country family trips, sight-seeing in Europe and the Middle East, and especially enjoyed spending time at Hawks Nest Beach in Old Lyme, CT.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by Dr. Stuart C. Williams (Leslie) of St. Louis, MO, Reverend Wendy L. Williams of Neffs, PA, Jean M. Williams (Nick) of Natick, Gail F. Hoefler (Brian) of Anchorage, AK, and ten grandchildren: Megan, Katie, Douglas, Scott, Annie, Julie, Ian, Jane, Maggie and Matthew.
Winifred was the cherished sister of the late Ronald L. Magee of Marblehead, and is survived by sister-in-law Patricia, and her children and grandchildren. She is also survived by cousins, David Carpenter of Agawam, Linda White of Chelmsford, and Jane Geer of Ballwin, MO, and their families.
Winifred loved her family and friends deeply and will always be in our hearts.
Visiting hours in the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common are on Saturday, January 7th, from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M.
The memorial service will be held Sunday, January 8, 2017, at 2:00 P.M. at Pilgrim Church in Sherborn.
