Ralph F. Vaughan, age 82, of Brockton, died December 27, 2016 at Signature Healthcare after a brief illness. He was beloved by family and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years Virginia M. (Memmo) Vaughan. He grew up in Jamaica Plain, the second son of the late Leonard Vaughan and Mary Obeline (Martell) Vaughan, both natives of Nova Scotia. He enjoyed visiting family and friends every summer for many years at his family homestead in L’Ardoise, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
He graduated from Jamaica Plain High School in 1953. A resident of Brockton for over 50 years, he had served on the City of Brockton Planning Board in the 1970’s.
He worked in the electronic and defense industries as an electrical engineer with one of the highest of security clearances during the Cold War for EG&G and other companies. He never revealed what he did to anyone until 40 years later while touring the Air & Space Museum Annex at Dulles.
He served in the Army National Guard as an ambulance driver during 1950’s and 1960’s. He worked for many years at Foxboro Company as a Quality Assurance Engineer.
He is survived by his children, William G. Vaughan and his wife Jo-Ann Marzullo of Billerica and Lisa J. Prosper and her husband Steven of Norton, and his brother Leonard Vaughan of Alexandria, VA. He also leaves four grandchildren, Nathan Vaughan, Christopher Vaughan, Kyla Prosper and Krystal Prosper.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 2 from 9:00 – 10:30 am at the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Route 123), Brockton. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00am at Christ the King Church. Burial will be at a later date.
