Dorothy J. (Tavares) Correia of New Bedford passed away suddenly on Monday December 26, 2016 on her ninetieth birthday. She was the wife of the late Joseph H. Correia.
Born in Hyannis and raised in Lynn, the daughter of the late Rosa (Balla) Neves Tavares and Joseph Tavares, she lived in New Bedofrd for most of her life.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mrs. Correia was formerly employed as a stitcher for Langshaw Mill, Cape Cod Clothing and Ginger-Peachy Inc.
She enjoyed dancing at the Verdean Vets Hall.
Survivors include a son, David W. Correia of New Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Kathleen S. Correia.
Her Funeral will be held on Saturday at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM.
