Mattie Sue Hall Hopper, age 68, died Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. She was born April 2, 1948 in Tallahatchie County to the late Leroy and MaeBell Miles Hall. Mattie was a retired manager of Oakland Grocery Store and a member of New Life Fellowship Church in Oakland, MS. She enjoyed working with the public, working outside, and she loved playing with her grandbabies.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 30, 2016 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Camp Ground Baptist Church in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 30, 2016 in the church with Bro. Jerry C. King and Bro. Calvin King officiating. Burial will be in the Camp Ground Cemetery in Lafayette County, MS with Hayden Carpenter, Jr., Danny Patton, Jerry Miles, Tony Miles, Glen Callahan, Jonathan King, Dewey Price, and Greg Filliyaw serving as pallbearers.
Mattie is survived by two daughters, Connie Sue Price (Michael) of Oakland, MS and Bobbie Jo King (Jerry) of Oakland, MS; two sisters, Sylvia Jenett McKnight (Jerry) of Clarksdale, MS and Rachel Hall Carpenter (Hayden) of Cascilla, MS; one brother, Elton Leroy Hall (Naomi) of Enid, MS; and four grandchildren, Kristine Price, Michael Dewey Price, Kaylie L. King, and Bethany J. King all of Oakland, MS.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Hopper; her grandparents, Elton and Mattie Henley Sprouse and Lonnie and Allie Miles; and her brother, Charles Lawrence Hall.
