Emily M. Hackett, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away at her home in Dedham on Christmas Eve. She was predeceased by George H. Hackett, her husband of 38 years.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she married and moved to Massachusetts, eventually settling in Dedham where she was a resident and active community member for over 50 years. She passed peacefully at age 90, surrounded by family members and loving caretaker.
She is survived by daughter, Wendy Maynard of West Palm Beach, FL; son David Maynard and his spouse, Patrice Maynard of Ghent, NY; and daughter, Hope Johnson and her spouse, Tom Johnson of Dedham, MA. She also leaves three grandchildren, Séamus Maynard, Eilís Maynard, and Emily Maynard. She is also survived by her four stepchildren; Hannah Soule, George H. Hackett, Jr, Edith Keeler, and Edward Hackett.
She was a dynamic presence in the lives of many and will be truly missed. A celebration of her life will be held in the Spring.
