BEVERLY: Stephen J. Hyland, 65, died Sunday, December 25, 2016 in the Beverly Hospital following an extended illness.
Born in Boston on March 24, 1951, he was the son of Grace M. (Neville) Hyland and the late William J. Hyland. He was a lifelong resident of Beverly and a graduate of Beverly High School class of 1969.
Steve was employed for several North Shore sanitation companies before retiring as a supervisor at F.W. Russell Co. An avid sports enthusiast, he took extreme pride in his children's athletics, coaching them in numerous baseball, basketball & softball leagues. He also played softball himself in Beverly for many years as well as completing 13 Boston Marathons. Steve had a love for his fish tanks and his dogs, Shaq and Beanie, which he shared with his son.
In addition to his loving mother, he is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Hyland of Beverly; two sons, Scott Hyland of Beverly and Jason Hyland of Beverly; three grandchildren, Ivy, Dalton and Lyla; an aunt, Mary Sabine of Beverly and many cousins.
His family will be receiving family and friends on Thursday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly from 5 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Funeral services will be privately held on Friday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the National Kidney Foundation, 85 Astor Ave., Suite 2, Norwood, MA 02062.
