Obituary

Audrey Claire (Harris) Swarce, a life-long resident of Brockton, died Saturday, December 24, 2016, after a brief illness at the age of 96. Audrey was the wife of the late Frank Swarce. Born in Brockton, May 17, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Leonel and Elsie (Podvin) Harris. A 1937 graduate of Brockton High School, Audrey worked for the Registry of Motor Vehicles, the Brockton Shank Shop, where she met her husband Frank, and retired in 1983 as Credit Manager of Sears in Brockton. Audrey was an avid Red Sox fan for her entire life and enjoyed crossword and Saduko puzzles, sewing, quilting and crocheting.

Audrey is survived by her sons Frank of Bartlett, NH, Donald and his wife Anne of Bridgewater, John and his wife Regina of Taunton, grandsons Donald Jr., Peter, Patrick, Michael, and Steven Swarce, granddaughter Kathleen Wasser and eight great grandchildren Laura, James, Caroline, Sam, David, Liam, Benjamin and Finn. She is also survived by her dear cousin Hazel Cronin of Waltham and special niece Kerry (Sullivan) Bogater of Florida and several other nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Meredith Sullivan, Robert Harris and niece of the late Fredrick and Edith (Podvin) Brumbach.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday 4-7pm. A funeral home service will be held Thursday at 10am, followed by burial in Melrose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in her name to the Bridgewater Lions Club, Box 169, Bridgewater, MA 02324 or a charity of your choice.
