Obituary

Juanita Powell Sumner, 86, of Omega entered Heaven’s gates December 26, 2016, peacefully at her home, surrounded by family after a lengthy illness. Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Glen Wagner officiating. Joel Watson will give a eulogy. Mrs. Sumner will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 28, 2016, from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mrs. Sumner’s grandsons, Brandon Holley, Ken Bragg, Lanny Arrington, Jamie Arrington, Greg Colston and two nephews, Everett Rowan and Thomas Sumner will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Sumner, Randy Lane, Wendell Sumner, Jerry Lupo, Walter Waller, Steve Sumner, Charles Palmer, Ken Ponder, Lee Varnadoe, David Sumner, Dwight Sumner, Glenn Willis, Bryan Haughton and Zach Wetherington.

Born November 29, 1930 in Worth County, Juanita was the daughter of the late Jim Powell and Lena Taylor Powell. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Charlie Elwood Sumner; one brother, James Curtis Powell; one sister and brother-in-law, Mable and W. D. “Doye” Wood, Sr.; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Charlie and Lula Belle Sumner; brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Bernadine Sumner; and three brothers-in-law, T. S. Sumner, Rudolph Sumner and Bobby Watson.

A loving mother and homemaker, Juanita was an excellent cook and avid gardener. She was a Christian woman that loved her Lord and Savior and was of non-denominational faith. She attended Branham Tabernacle and Life Tabernacle. Juanita loved listening to the messages of Prophet William Branham. She loved the outdoors, mowing her lawn and tending to her flowers. She was an excellent farmer’s wife and loved taking care of her family, where she instilled all of her hard work and devotion to her children.

Juanita is survived by her seven children and their spouses, Patsy and Roger Buffi, Nancy and Gene Holley, Sharon and Steven Cooper and Donna Sumner, all of Tifton, Gail and Darrell Arrington of Griffin, Tim Sumner and Aubrey and Dana Sumner, all of Omega; one sister, Helen Olivo of Desdemona, Texas; five sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Mary Sumner, Ruth Sumner, Faye Watson, Valda Rowan, Mary Sumner and Charles and Sandra Sumner. She has eleven grandchildren and their spouses, Ken Bragg, Sheila and Greg Colston, Sandy and Joe Venezia, Michael and Lisa Bragg, Lanny and Doni Arrington, Jamie and Jamie Lynn Arrington, Brandon and Jessi Holley, Sarah Rose Cooper, Britney Sumner, Megan Sumner, Rebekah Rose Cooper; fifteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
