New Bedford– Leonora (Gonsalves) Reed, age 71, passed away on Monday December 26, 2016 at home with her family at her side. She was the loving wife of Ralph A. Reed of New Bedford and daughter of the late Leonora (Costa) and Joseph Gonsalves.
Born in New Bedford, Ma, she worked as a Winder for Acushnet Company until her retirement. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and she also loved watching ice skating.
Her surviving family includes her 2 daughters: Rhonda-Lee Amaral and her husband John and Tammy DaSilva and her husband Moses. 4 grandchildren: Meagan Amaral, John Amaral, Jacob DaSilva and Nicholas DaSilva. 2 godchildren: Tammy Ann Reed and Robert Gonsalves. 8 siblings: Joseph Gonsalves Jr., Bette Reed, Ronald Gonsalves, John Gonsalves, Rosemarie Forsblom, Doreen Gonsalves, Darleen Nunes and Arnold Gonsalves as well as several nieces and nephews. She is also predeceased by 3 brothers: Lawrence Gonsalves, Robert Gonsalves, and Antonio Gonsalves.
Mrs Reeds funeral will be on Thursday, December 29, 2016 beginning at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will take place at St Marys Cemetery in New Bedford. Visiting Hours will take place on Wednesday from 5-8 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute P.O.
