Geraldine I. (McKay) Springfield , 92, of Derry, NH, passed away Thursday December 22, 2016, in Villa Crest Healthcare in Manchester, NH. She was born in Boston, MA on February 1, 1924, a daughter of the late Clyde and Ida (Therrien) McKay. A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, whose life was rooted in a strong christian faith, believed in friends, family, and God first before herself. She was married for 65 years to Charles Willard Springfield whom she met while working at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard during World War II. She was a talented seamstress who throughout her life made numerous styles of clothes, blankets and quilts for family and friends. All who knew her will remember her for her kindness.
She is survived by her daughter, Joanne Longley and her husband Kevin of Derry, NH, her son, Randall Springfield and his wife April of Hollis, NH; three grandsons, Jeremy Springfield and his wife Jennifer Benson, Kent Springfield and his wife Sandra Salstrom, and Andrew Longley and his fiance Kim David; three great grandchildren, Belladonna Canning, Isla Salstrom-Springfield and Grant Salstrom-Springfield, two brothers, Fred McKay and his wife Phyllis and Chesley McKay; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A calling hour will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 from 1:00pm – 2:00pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry with a funeral service to begin at 2:00pm in the funeral home.
