Joyce Jones of Water Valley died December 25, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. She was born February 7, 1956 to the Jessie Rogers Poynor and David Carlyle Poynor in Clarksdale, MS and became a homemaker after her marriage to Roy Jones in 1973. She enjoyed cooking for her family, playing with her grandchildren, shopping, and playing Bingo.
Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 5-7 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley. Funeral services will be at 11 am Wednesday, December 28, 2016 in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. Jay Derry Berry officiating. Burial will be in Pine Flat Cemetery in Lafayette County with Josh Smith, Danny Crockett, John Watts, David Potts, Chance Brewer, and Timmy Jones serving as pallbearers. Dustin Watts will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Roy Jones of Water Valley, MS; one daughter, Linda Royer of Water Valley, MS; three sisters, Patsy Obermarker of Licking, MO, Frances McGonagill of Coffeeville, MS, and Shirley Johnson of Houston, MS; four brothers, Jimmy Poynor of Houston, MS, Raymond Poynor of Coffeeville, MS, Lee Crockett of Houston, MS, and Danny Crockett of Houston, MS, 6 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by two sons, Bobby Lee Jones and David Major Jones; four brothers, David Poynor, William "Chick" Poynor, Charles Lee Poynor, and Williams Poynor; and one grandchild.
