Obituary

Architect Richard E. Landry, Sr., 66, died Thursday, December 22, 2016, after a long illness. Born in Belleville, Illinois, his family moved to Andover, MA in the early 1960’s. He graduated from Andover High School in 1968 and received degrees from both Wentworth Institute of Technology and Texas A&M University.

Professionally, Dick grew his business from its beginning in Andover MA, into a flourishing commercial architectural firm located in Salem, NH. His business encompassed projects throughout the Eastern United States. Dick was also active in his community, especially with the Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce. After acting as a board member for several years, he served as the Chamber’s chairman for a number of years. In 2003 the GSCC created the Richard E. Landry Volunteer of the year award to honor a member who reflects Dick’s hard work and dedication to the Chamber. In 2005, he was a recipient of the organization’s Bill Brown award in recognition of his services to the community.

A loving and engaged father, Dick delighted in participating in his children's lives. From leading them in scouting, to coaching Little League, to simply enjoying the time he spent chauffeuring his children and their friends to their many activities, he made memories that will be cherished. His engagement in scouting led to his being awarded the Order of the Arrow by the Boy Scouts of America.

A lifelong golfer, he enjoyed the sport both locally and at his home in Vero Beach, Florida. He also delighted in traveling the world with his wife of 46 years, the former Maureen Campbell. His greatest joy came from the time he was able to spend with his three children and six grandchildren. Whether at the lakeside home he designed and built in Alton Bay, NH, or on the many trips they all made together, he kept his children, their spouses and his grandchildren entertained with his lively stories and reminisces.

Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughter; Jeannette Logue, her husband Sean, and their children Sam and Emma of Worcester MA, his son; Richard E. Landry Jr., his wife Elizabeth and their children Will and Sophie of New Castle, NH and his daughter Elizabeth Talon and her husband Jason and their children Campbell and Logan of Barrington, NH.

He also leaves his father; Ernest Landry of Andover, his sisters; Susan Ferris and Jaqueline Barry also of Andover, his brother; James Landry of Casco, Maine and many nieces and nephews.
