Lorraine R. Lydon, a longtime resident of Medford, passed away at the Aberjona Nursing Center in Winchester on Wednesday morning, December 21, 2016. She was 87 years old.
Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on July 8, 1929, she was the beloved daughter of the late John T. and Jenny (Bennett) Lydon Sr. Ms. Lydon worked as a Candy Maker for Welch's Candy in Cambridge for more than 50 years. She had also worked for Marty's Catering in Stoneham and the Tavern Club in Boston as a waitress. In her spare time, Lorraine enjoyed going to the Theater in Boston and New York. She also enjoyed being at the beach and visiting the Boston Pop's. Lorraine loved to travel, especially to Hawaii and the Dominican Republic. Above all, she enjoyed being with her beloved nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed.
Lorraine was the sister of the late Rita "Lydon" Nicoli and her husband the late John M. Nicoli, and Mary T. “Marie” "Lydon" Nary and her husband the late Frederick L. Nary, and the brother of the late John T. Lydon, Jr. She is survived by her sister-in-law Katherine Lydon. She was the longtime companion of the late William “Junior" McLaughlin.
Her funeral will be held from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford at 8:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 514 High Street, Medford on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at 9:30 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2016, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment will be held in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
