Obituary

DiCecco, Joseph L. of Medford, formerly of Wellesley, December 21, 2016 at age 91. Beloved husband of Ruth E. (Hurley) for 32 years. Devoted father of Thomas DiCecco and his wife Susan of Holliston, Nancy (DiCecco) Penn of Tustin, CA.  Beloved step father of Dr. Jean Elrick of Andover, Joan (Elrick) Lucca and her husband Timothy of Stratham, NH, Robert Elrick and his wife Mary of Bedford, NH and Nancy (Elrick) Forman and her husband Bob from Bedford, MA. He is also survived by one grandson, Steven DiCecco, six step grandchildren, Jennifer Sessler, Valerie Rogers, Andrew Lucca, Meaghan Elrick, Michael Elrick, Molly Elrick and six step great grandchildren, who all loved Joe very much. He was brother of the late Constantino DiCecco, Elena Barbagallo, and Rose Marie Kelly and several nieces and nephews.

Joseph was a decorated World War II Veteran, serving in Europe as an artillery specialist.  He retired from the MIT Endicott House as a Horticulturist and worked for many years for L. Sherman Adams in Wellesley as an orchid grower. He was an avid golfer, and loved to travel and spend time with family and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at the Chapel at the VA Hospital in Bedford, MA (building #81) on Monday, December 26 at 10:30am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Interment private. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in Joseph’s memory to the Hospice Wing of the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial VA Hospital, 200 Springs Road, Bedford, MA 01730.
