BEVERLY: Albert C. βAlβ Hicks, 76, died Thursday, December 22, 2016 in the Beverly Hospital following brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen (Carroll) Hicks.
Born in Romulus, New York on March 12, 1940 he was the son of the late Charles C. and Aletha (Covert) Hicks. He was a graduate of Romulus Central High School class of 1958. He had also served in the U.S. Army before being honorably discharged on August 11, 1961.
Al was employed as a mechanic and equipment operator for several local contracting companies. He had also once worked at S&N Oil Co. in Beverly and as a bus driver for the City of Beverly.
In addition to his wife of fifty-six years, he is survived by his three daughters, Pamela A. Lane of Newmarket, NH, Lisa M. Hicks of Newburyport and Karen E. Johansson and her husband, Dana of Epping, NH; four grandchildren, Dawn Hicks and her companion, David Yazbek, Heather Hicks, Ashley Johansson and her companion, Josh McAllister and SPC. Kyle Johansson, U.S. Army; one brother, Gerald Hicks of Summerville, SC; one great-granddaughter, Brooklynn Rose Yazbek; one sister, Janice Parker and her husband, William of Cazenovia, NY and two nieces, Wendy Chauncey and her husband, Eric and their children, Trevor and Sabrina of Albany, NY and Ann Elliott and her son, Adam of Danvers.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 5 β 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Beverly Bootstraps, 198 Rantoul St., Beverly, MA 01915. Interment with military honors will by held in Beverly Farms Cemetery.
