SALEM – Irene C. (Szczechowicz) Grabowski, 92, of Salem, died at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers, early Tuesday morning, December 20, 2016. She was the wife of the late Henry I. Grabowski.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Maryanna (Serocki) Szczechowicz and was a lifelong resident of the city. She was a long time parishioner of the St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
Prior to her retirement in the late 1980’s, Irene was employed in the office of the MASS Department of Welfare for 16 years.
She is survived by her children, Richard H. Grabowski of Salem, Daniel A. and his wife Patricia Grabowski of West Newbery, Deborah K. Shepherd of Salem, Claudia Blake of Goshen, KY, four grandchildren, David Grabowski, Mark Grabowski, Kristen Sherman, Jackie Blake, one brother, Ludwig Szczechowicz of Melbourne, FL and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one grandson, Jamie Grabowski and two brothers, Frederick Szczechowicz and Bernard Szczechowicz.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 23, 2016 with a visitation from 9 AM to 10:45 AM at the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:15 AM at the ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH, 17 CHURCH ST., PEABODY. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial is in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
