Muirhead, Donald J. age 81, died peacefully at his New Durham, NH home August 18, 2005. Also of North Port, FL, formerly of Weymouth, MA.
Survived by his wife of 52 years, Catherine (Doyle), and seven children: Mary Hegarty of Cape Town, South Africa; Cecile Chase and her husband Robert of New Durham NH; Donald, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Middleboro, MA; Karen Hussey and her husband David of Rockland MA; Pamela and her husband William Broderick of Abington MA; James and his family of Middleboro MA; John and his wife Allison of Hanover MA; as well as 17 grandchildren. Close family friend of Danny White of Berwick, ME.
Funeral from the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St., (off Central St.), HINGHAM Tuesday at 12 PM. Funeral Mass in celebration of his life in St. Albert the Great Church, Weymouth at 2 PM.
Visiting Hours Monday 5-8 PM.

Mr. Muirhead was born in Somerville, MA, to the late James M. and Cecelia (Murphy) Muirhead, and graduated from Somerville High in 1941. He enlisted in the US Navy during WWII, serving in the Seabees from 1942-45 in Europe and the Pacific. After his service in the Navy, he spent 3 years in Point Barrow, Alaska, surveying the coast for the U.S. Geodetic Survey (NOAA). Over the next 45 years he took great satisfaction in his work as a civil engineer across New England. He retired to Florida and New Hampshire. Married on Valentine's Day, 1953, he spent the next 52 years as a devoted husband and proud father and grandfather.
Burial in John C. Shirley Cemetery, New Durham, NH at a later date.
