Richard M. Shaughnessy of Whitman, formerly of Rockland passed away peacefully on December 19 at the age of 84.
Richard was the oldest son of the late Martin E. and Melvina E. (Richard) Shaughnessy.
Richard was a graduate of Rockland High School, Class of 1949.
A Korean War Veteran, Richard proudly served in the United States Army.
For many years Richard had worked for General Dynamics at the Quincy Shipyard.
Richard always put family first, especially his beloved grandchildren. He will always be remembered by those who knew him for “his jokes”and making everyone laugh!
Richard is survived by his loving wife Deborah D. (Pynn) Shaughnessy, his children Colleen (Shaughnessy) Roussos and her husband Ralph of Palm Bay, FL, Kathleen (Shaughnessy) Pike of Whitman and Michael Shaughnessy of Whitman. Richard “Bumpy” has ten grandchildren that love him tremendously Ashley Roussos of Florida, Kristina Rousos of Florida, Jessica Pike of Whitman, Courtney Shaughnessy of Marshfield, Alyson Pike of Whitman, Christopher Pike, Jr. of Whitman, Jacob Pike of Whitman, Robert Shaughnessy of Marshfield, Zoey Reynolds of Brockton and Brianna Shaughnessy of Brockton.
Family and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass to be held Thursday December 22 at 9:00 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, School Street, Whitman.
By request of the family all other services are omitted.
