Bobby Joe Hopper, age 70, died Monday, December 19, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. He was born October 3, 1946 in Cleveland, MS to the late George W. and Margaret Mullins Hopper. Bobby was retired from the United States Marines, serving in Vietnam from 1966 until 1968. He was also self-employed, owning and operating a small engine repair shop until his retirement. Bobby was a member of New Life Fellowship Church in Oakland, MS and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and aggravating his daughters.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Camp Ground Church in Lafayette County, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Camp Ground Church with Bro. Jerry King and Bro. Calvin King officiating. Burial will be in the Camp Ground Cemetery with Jonathan King, Terry King, Michael Price, Danny Patton, Glen Callahan, Hayden Carpenter, Jr., Greg Fillyaw, John Burnett and Chris Baldwin serving as pallbearers. Dewey Price, Jerry Ferrish and Calvin King will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Mattie Sue Hall Hopper of Oakland, MS; two daughters, Connie Price (Michael) and Bobbie Jo King (Jerry) all of Oakland, MS; three sisters, Ann Weaver Griffis of Olive Branch, MS, Teresa Woljevach (Bob) of GA, and Rhonda Price (Glen) of GA; six brothers, Roy Hopper (Lou) of Water Valley, MS, Buddy Hopper (Linda) of Southaven, MS, Gary Hopper (Donna) of GA, Chad Hopper of GA, Charlie Hopper (Linda) of Oakland, MS, and Robert Hopper of Laurel, MS; and four grandchildren, Kristine Price, Dewey Price, Kaylie King and Bethany King.
