TEWKSBURY - Patricia Ann (Ryan) Souza, age 73, a well known member of the Tewksbury community, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 20, at Lowell General Hospital, after a courageous three month battle with Cancer. She was the spouse and life partner for the past 23 years of James L. “Jim” McGlinchey.
She was born in Everett one of three children of the late Wilfred and Eleanor (O’Brien) Ryan, and raised in Everett, where she was a member of Everett High School’s Class of 1961. She had lived in Tewksbury since 1966.
In addition to raising her son, Pat’s early working career began at Hertel’s Candies in Tewksbury. She also developed many friendships over the years as a hair stylist at Jean’s Curl and Swirl in Tewksbury. Most recently she had worked as the Administrator and Hall Manager at the Fr. Coppen’s Council, Knight’s of Columbus Hall in Tewksbury.
Pat was a communicant of St. William’s Church.
She will be remembered by her many friends for her calm demeanor, her organizational skills, easy smile, and the twinkle in her eyes. She loved long walks, trips to sunny Florida, and her favorite cat, “Peaches.”
Besides her beloved Jim, she leaves her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Colleen (Schultz) Souza of Tewksbury; a sister, Joan Saunders of Tewksbury; her step-daughter Sherry Gannon and her husband Gerald of Tewksbury; her shared grandchildren, Tyler, Cameron, Alysa, and Katelin Gannon of Tewksbury and Brendan McGlinchey of Salem, NH; and was predeceased by her step-son, James L. McGlinchey Jr.
At her request there are no visiting hours. Relatives and friends are invited to meet at St. William’s Church on Friday, Dec. 23, at 11:30 a.m. for her Funeral Mass, which will be followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, No. Tewksbury.
