TAUNTON…. Dr. David E. Ziemba, 59, of Wrentham, passed away December 19, 2016 at Morton Hospital. He was a son of the late Edward J. and Emily K. (Pasternak) Ziemba. He was the close friend of Paula Baptista of E. Freetown, William Doyle of Springfield, Mass and Zania Sucka of Boston, Mass.
He was currently employed with Holy Family Hospital in Methuen as a staff pathologist and was a member of Aquinas Pathology along with Donald G. Ross, MD, PHD Chief Pathologist and Liliane K. Yacoub MD, staff pathologist.
He was also the Laboratory Director at Greater New Bedford community health center, Optimum Laboratory and Trilogy Laboratories both in New Bedford. Formerly Chief of pathology for New Bedford Medical Associates, Chief of pathology and Laboratory medicine for St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, and Tobey Hospital in Wareham and former President of the Medical Staff at St. Luke’s Hospital.
Dr. Ziemba graduated from University of Massachusetts Medical School with honors in Worcester, MA in 1986 and has been in practice for 30 years. He completed a residency at Beth Israel Medical Center. Dr. Ziemba also specialized in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.
Dr. Ziemba enjoyed Polish Lessons, instructed by Beata Cygan of Poland, and loved his Polish Heritage, and golf.
He was a very proud sponsor for the Koska children’s school in Krakow, Poland as well as a good friend of Fr. Pawel Brozyniak, S.J., Director and Founder and President of Kostka Public school Academy, Krakow, Poland. Almost 95 percent of the students come from this poor community because they must accept everyone who wants to come here from this community. He made several trips a year to personally meet with students and encourage them to continue in their education.
Funeral Mass to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Friday at 9AM from BOYKO MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 709 Broadway, Fall River. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10AM at St. Stanislaus Church, Rockland Street, Fall River. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 – 8 PM.
