Alice Louise Gahimer, 85, passed away peacefully in her home on December 19, 2016 in Anderson. She is survived by her husband of 60 years Joe, her son James, daughters Mary Ann McBride (Terry), Beth Booth (Antony), Janet Vischak (Ed), Karen Storm (Jerome), brother Fred “Shorty” Jones, sister Ruth Walker (Don), grandchildren Erin Gahimer, Lauren Gahimer, Steven Vischak, Hannah Gahimer, Gracie Storm and Stanley Vischak.
She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Alberta Jones; and bothers Richard and Max Jones.
Alice was born, September 21, 1931, in Lafayette Township, Indiana and was a 1949 graduate of Anderson High School and 1953 graduate of Marion County General Hospital School of Nursing where she served as Secretary-Treasurer and coach of a basketball team comprised of her fellow nursing students. Although she suffered a win-less season, Joe continued to call her ‘Coach” for the next 60 years.
She was an active member of the Madison County Medical Auxiliary all while attending or participating in countless events for her children.
Alice was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed family; travel (venturing to Europe on 5 occasions); wintering in Sebring, Florida; Symphony on the Prairie at Conner Prairie; and the Pacers.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 23, 2016 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, 229 S. Rangeline Rd, Anderson, IN 46012 with Rev. Richard True officiating.
Visitation will be 3:00 – 6:00 pm on Thursday December 22nd and 12:00 – 1:00 pm on Friday before the funeral services.
