Robert E. “Benny” Benevides. Age 59. Husband of Shari (Crooks) Benevides. Residence 159 Globe St., Fall River, MA. Died Thursday at St. Anne’s Hospital. Born in Fall River, MA. Son of the late Manuel Benevides and the late Grace (Danis) Benevides. He was a Fall River resident for most of his life, previously from Swansea. Before retiring, he worked as an Assistant Chief of Police for the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs at the Brockton Veterans Medical Center. He was an avid Musician and a former member of the “Tangerine Zoo” Band. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Viet Nam Era.
Besides his wife of Fall River, he is survived by Two Sons: Matthew Robert Benevides of Fall River, MA and Michael T. Benevides of Nantucket, MA. One Daughter: Heather Greenwood of Fall River, MA. Father-in-law of Thomas Greenwood. Brother-in-law of Lois Benevides. Grandfather of Megan Ann and Tyler Allen Greenwood.Several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late William Benevides, Joan Snow, and Theresa Robitaille.
His funeral service will take place in the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 No. Main St. Monday at 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home during Calling hours Monday 5-8 P.M. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Disabled American Veterans Assoc.
