Jose M. Sainz, 74, a resident of Lawrence, MA, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House surrounded by his family.
Born and educated in Placeta, LaVilla, Cuba, Jose came to the United States in 1962 and moved to Lawrence in 1964. He was retired from Haverhill Paper Company. Prior that he had worked for the Converse Rubber Company for some 18 ½ years. Jose was a member of the Sacred Heart group at St. Mary’s Church where he was also a Eucharistic Minister. Jose had also served in the United States Army.
Members of Jose’s family include his wife of 52 years Carmen L. (Alfaro) Sainz, daughters: Barbara E. Sainz of Methuen, MA and Maria D. Sainz of Salem, NH, and a son Rafael L. Sainz of Lawrence, MA, his sisters Marina Frau and Emelina Sainz, 3 grandchildren: Jessica L. Sainz, Megan St. Pierre and Matthew Massie as well as 2 great grandchildren Dominik and Lillian Grzywinski. Other members of Jose’s family include: Jim Massie, Matthew Gill, Ryan Longdin and Robert Grzywinski as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 300 Haverhill St., Lawrence, MA. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, also in Lawrence, MA.
