Stanley L. Johnson, 90, of Danvers, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. He was the husband of Jeannette E. (Lemelin) Johnson with whom he had shared 67 years of marriage.
Born in Everett and raised in Wakefield, he was the son of the late William H. and Theda M. (Salisbury) Johnson. A veteran of World War II, Stan served stateside with the U.S Navy. Following his tour of duty he returned home and graduated from Essex Agricultural School. For many years he was employed by the state as a statewide milk inspector. He later worked as a technician for Crystal Systems producers of industrial gem crystals. Following his retirement, he worked part time for the Meals on Wheels program and as a crossing guard for the Town of Danvers. In his free time, Stan enjoyed nature, geology and the outdoors.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Sharon A. Hughes of Beverly, his son, Steven A. Johnson and his wife Donna E. of Salem, a step-grandson, Roy McDennon of Salem as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sons, Stanley “Bud” Johnson Jr., John E. & James E. Johnson, a granddaughter, Shelby Hughes, his brothers William & Bernard Johnson and sister, Sandra Hanright.
Relatives and friends are invited to an hour of visitation on Thursday, December 22, 2016 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM followed by his funeral service at 11:00 AM in the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem.
