CHICOPEE – Richard T. “Rick” Tremblay, 69, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, December 19, 2016. He passed into Eternal Life at the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family, his wonderful caregivers and his comrades at arms. He was born in Holyoke on July 3, 1947, a beloved son of the late Charles J. Tremblay who was Called Home on September 5, 1998 and Eliette N. (Beaulieu) Tremblay who was Called Home on July 4, 2006. He was raised in the Willimansett section of Chicopee, graduated from the former Mount Carmel Elementary School in Willimansett and the former Precious Blood High School in Holyoke, and had lived in Chicopee his entire life, moving to Fairview in 1974. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and attained the rank of Sergeant. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Commendation Medal. He was employed by Food Mart, where he worked as a Produce Manager and later became a Store Manager for numerous locations. He later went on to manage the Fruit Fair in Chicopee. He was a communicant of Saint Anne Church and a member of the Fairview Knights of Columbus Council 4044, both in Chicopee. He was an avid card player and enjoyed many good card games at the Knights of Columbus and the Agawam Senior Center with his many friends. He was an avid golfer and a loyal New England sports fan. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time at his camper in Hampton Falls, NH. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and his many friends. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his dear brother, Alan R. Tremblay who was Called Home on February 7, 2008. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Constance A. “Connie” (Marcotte) Tremblay. They were married on June 15, 1974 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Granby and were blessed with over 42 years of happiness together. He also leaves his two devoted sons, Marc R. Tremblay of Granby and Bryan J. Tremblay of Chicopee; his cherished grandson, Cody Tremblay; his cherished granddaughter, Kayle Peterson; his two dear brothers, Dr. Donald A. “Don” Tremblay and his wife, Annette, of Granby and Robert C. Tremblay; his dear brother-in-law, Richard Marcotte and his wife, Renee, of Granby; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended members of the Tremblay and Marcotte families. His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday morning, December 22, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.). His burial with United States Air Force Military Honors will follow the service at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family has requested that memorial donations be made in his memory to the Friends of the Soldiers’ Home, 110 Cherry Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
