Nancy L. Dillon (Nelon)
December 15, 2016

Obituary

age 82, of Millis, formerly of Jamaica Plain and Needham, on December 15, 2016. Beloved wife of John J. Dillon (B.P.D. Ret.). Loving mother of Patricia A. Binda and her husband Aldo of Milton, John J. Dillon, Jr. and his wife Jeanne of Sandwich, Lawrence R. Dillon and his partner Karin Reed of Millis, and Edward F. Dillon and his wife Jennifer Pearson of Yarmouth, Maine. Dear grandmother of John III, Lindsay and Connor Dillon, Aldo III and Jack Binda. Sister of the late Janet Gillis and John A. Nelon, Jr. Nancy had an unwavering faith in God and was a member of the Grace Church in Dover. She was on the Board of Directors and was involved in many other church activities. Living on the family horse farm, Nancy and her family were well known and loved by the New England equestrian community. Whoever stopped by the farm was always greeted with open arms and an endless supply of apples and carrots to feed the horses. She was a fixture at the local horse shows and hunts with a picnic basket full of sandwiches and drinks for all who stopped by for a chat. She lived for the here and now. Her athleticism and love for the outdoors was no match for her children or grandchildren. Her passion included speed skating, skiing, sailing, along with a mean arm for pitching wiffle ball to the grand kids. She was "all in" when it came to her grandchildren and followed their academics and sports with great fanfare. Her passion for gardening was evident throughout the property, especially tending to her different varieties of peony plants, her favorite being "Star Power". She loved travelling throughout the Northeast with the Wellesley College Horticultural Society visiting homes and gardens. She was a member of the Museum of Fine Arts and throughout the years attended several opening gala events. She was a lovely sweet woman who exuded beauty, charm and grace and we were blessed to learn many valuable lessons during her 82 years. She always reminded us that "laughing intensely was the best thing God created" along with "Be kind, do your best, and make something amazing of your life." Visiting hours at the Brady & Fallon Funeral Home 10 Tower St. (Opp. Forest Hills MBTA Station) Jamaica Plain on Tuesday Dec. 20 from 4-7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Grace Church 21 Centre St. Dover on Wednesday Dec. 21 at 10 AM. Interment, St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
