WORCESTER: Robert J. Reidy, Sr., 91, died peacefully on Saturday morning, December 17, 2016, at the Knollwood Nursing Center.
He leaves his wife of 70 years, Virginia M. (LeMay) Reidy; two sons, Dr. Robert J. Reidy, Jr. and his wife Michelle of East Berne, NY, Ronald W. Reidy and his wife Mary of Hopkinton; two grandchildren, Christopher Reidy and his wife Molly of Portland, OR, Danielle Reidy of Mesa, AZ; a great granddaughter, Samara; his sister-in-law, Helen R. (Safko) Reidy of Auburn; and many nieces and nephews. His brother, William H. Reidy, three nephews, Dr. Dennis M. Reidy, Robert Metivier, Kevin Molony; and his niece, Katherine E. Reidy-Shablin, all predeceased him. He was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late Dennis J. and Katherine E. (Murphy) Reidy and was a life-long resident of the city.
Bob worked as a beef salesman for the Armour Company. He also worked for James Cowan & Sons on Temple Street for 25 years and with Boston Beef for 10 years until he retired in 1992. After he retired, he continued to work part-time for Mid-Town Beef. He also worked as a calling hours and funeral assistant at Kelly Funeral Home for many years. He was an active member of St. George’s Church where he served as an usher for over 40 years, especially at the 4 p.m. Mass on Saturdays. He had also been a baseball coach for the Joe Schwartz Little League, a basketball coach for the Norton Youth League, and a long-time member of the Greendale Retired Men’s Club. He will be well remembered as a consummate gentleman and for sporting his ever-stylish bow ties.
There are no calling hours. After cremation, A MEMORIAL MASS with Bob’s ashes will be held in St. George’s Church at a later date. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. The family suggests donations in memory of Bob be made to St. George’s Parish, 40 Brattle St., Worcester, MA 01606.

A MEMORIAL MASS with Bob's ashes will be held at 10 A.M. on SAT., FEB. 11 at ST. GEORGE’S CHURCH, 38 Brattle Street, followed by burial in Notre Dame Cemetery.
