Obituary

Loretta T. (Paradise) Brodeur, 91, of Westport died Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Florian S. Brodeur, who was the love of her life for 46 years of marriage. They supported each other in all endeavors

Born in Fall River, she was daughter of the late Arsene and Blanche (Tardie) Paradise. She was a rock in all things that mattered, but she was a realist as to what was important. As a parent, Loretta and her husband raised 2 sons with an appreciation for hard work and following their dreams. She saw the need for a good education, and together with her husband supported their children's career choices. They made things happen, in a large part due to her vision and support. After working briefly in the textile mills, she became the co-proprietor of Brodeur's Service Station in Fall River where she learned to drive a wrecker , pump gas and perform minor repairs. Mrs. Brodeur was a Communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport.

She was the supportive mother of Richard R. Brodeur and the late Dr. Robert F. Brodeur, memere to four grandchildren: Nicole Hixon and Jeremy, Ashlyn and Steven Brodeur and most recently the loving great grandmother of Abigail Riley Hixon and Ian Robert Hixon. She always had love to share with two daughters-in-law, Karen Brodeur, wife of Richard, and Pauline Brodeur, wife of the late Dr. Robert F. Brodeur. She was always an involved cornerstone and member of this small but happy family.

She was the sister of the late Evelyn Montminy.

The family would like to thank Sarah Brayton Nursing Care Center and the Palliative Care Team of Charlton Memorial Hospital for their compassion, skills, understanding and sense of humor that made the family journey a bit easier to endure.
