DUXBURY/LEICESTER; Ernest "Ernie" Taberner, Jr., 90, of 71 Bayridge Lane, died Wednesday, December 14 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 59 years, Phyllis (Daigle) Taberner, five sons; Scott E. Taberner and his wife Karen Silva of Methuen, Bryan W. Taberner and his wife Cynthia of Kingston, Lee E. Taberner of Oak Bluffs, Mark P. Taberner and his wife Danielle of Tehachapi, CA, Paul D. Taberner and his wife Laura of Duxbury, a daughter, Aimee L. Taberner of Arlington, thirteen grandchildren; Mikaela and PhilipTaberner, Kimberly Coale and David, Michael, Elaine, Aidan, Molly, Kameron and Cody Taberner, Justin, Marrissa and Tyler Magar, a great-grandson, Julian Coale, eight nieces and nephews and a son-in-law Patrick Guthrie.
He was pre-deceased by a brother, Harold Taberner and two sisters; Florence Dufault and Irene Carey.
Born in Rochdale, a section of Leicester, he was the son of Ernest & Florrie (Pilkington) Taberner, Sr. He served his country in the Navy during the Korean War.
Mr. Taberner was an electrician working for National Standard for 26 years and then UMASS Medical Center for 8, retiring in 1992.
He was a lifelong member of the Christ Episcopal Church in Rochdale. He was an avid card player and Red Sox fan.
A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, December 20 from the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester, with a Service at 11:30 in Christ Episcopal Church, Stafford St., Rochdale. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Cherry Valley Cemetery, Towtaid St., Leicester. Calling hours are Monday from 4-7 P.M. in the funeral home.
